Combine A4 sewing pattern pages into one sheet at original scale

A4 pattern PDFs usually arrive as many small pages. Here is how to join them into one sheet at the scale the designer drew, by hand or with a tool, before you print.

No software to install · Printing is separate · Bloom Web Services LLC

When a sewing pattern PDF is split across A4 pages, each page only shows a slice of the piece. Printing or projecting the pages separately will not show you the whole shape; you need them joined edge to edge, at the same scale the designer drew, not resized to fit a page.

The designer's assembly map is the starting point either way. It tells you how many pages sit across each row, which edges overlap or trim away, and where the registration marks should meet.

How to join them

Do it with Pattern Stitch

  1. Upload your A4 pattern PDF: a supported, unlocked vector file, up to 10 MB and 60 pages.
  2. Select the pages in assembly order, left to right then row by row, and enter how many pages sit across each row.
  3. Set the trim to remove, the same amount on every edge.
  4. Inspect the free proof, then pay $5 USD to download the joined sheet at original scale. Existing selectable layers stay in the file.

If your designer already included a layered copy-shop or projector PDF, use that file. You do not need this tool.

Frequently asked questions

Does combining change the pattern's scale?

No. Stitching places the original A4 pages side by side at their original scale; it can't fix a file that was already scaled wrong before you started.

Will my pattern's size layers still be there?

Yes, for supported files existing selectable layers stay in the download. You choose the size later in a PDF viewer that supports layers; compatibility isn't established for every designer's file.

What if my PDF is a scan?

Scans and image-only pages aren't supported. Ask the designer for the original vector PDF if you only have a scanned copy.
